This summer, an enthusiastic team of three interns is working diligently to help the Buckeye Book Fair expand and streamline several key initiatives. This dynamic effort is made possible through a fruitful partnership with The College of Wooster’s Applied Methods Research Experience (AMRE) program. Over the coming months, we will shine a spotlight on each intern and the unique skills they bring to our organization.

Our first featured intern is Eva Bauman, a junior majoring in economics from Tacoma, Washington. Beyond her academic pursuits, Eva is an active competitor on Wooster’s cross country and track teams. Her commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom and the track; she has previously volunteered in the Wooster community and is now excited to engage closely with a local nonprofit.
Leading the Charge in Marketing
Eva is spearheading the marketing area of our project, aiming to reach new audiences and build excitement for the upcoming Buckeye Book Fair. Her responsibilities are diverse and impactful:
- Writing newsletters and blog posts: Eva is crafting engaging content to keep our community informed and excited about the fair.
- Creating and scheduling social media posts: She is leveraging social media to expand our reach and engage with a broader audience.
- Implementing a revamped marketing plan: Eva is bringing fresh ideas and strategies to enhance our marketing efforts.
- Collaborating with the AMRE team to host an event: Her teamwork and event planning skills are essential to our initiatives.
Reaching Out to Authors
Eva has taken on the crucial task of contacting the first round of authors invited by the Selection Committee to the 2024 Buckeye Book Fair. This role not only requires organizational skills but also a deep appreciation for literature.
A Personal Connection to the Theme
The theme for the 2024 Book Bits Newsletter is “One Book Can Change Your Life Forever.” This resonates deeply with Eva, who recalls how reading The Black Stallion series by Walter Farley as a child ignited her lifelong love for reading. Currently, her favorite genres include historical and realistic fiction, showcasing her diverse literary interests.
Looking Ahead
Eva’s journey with the Buckeye Book Fair is just beginning. Over the next month, she hopes to make a tangible impact on our initiatives while gaining valuable marketing and consulting skills. Her dedication and enthusiasm are already evident, and we are excited to see the positive changes she will bring to the Buckeye Book Fair.
Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the incredible work of our interns and the ways they are helping to shape the future of the Buckeye Book Fair.
