Did you know that despite the thriving global publishing industry, millions of children across the United States, including right here in our state, lack access to books? Shockingly, up to 61 percent of low-income families do not have any books for their kids at home. Additionally, 45 percent of US children live in neighborhoods without public libraries or bookstores, and many families cannot afford books.
This startling reality means that 32.4 million American children go without books, while countless schools and programs in our nation’s lowest-income neighborhoods struggle to afford them at retail prices.
That’s where the Buckeye Book Fair comes in. By supporting our charity, you’ll be directly contributing to providing books to children in need right here in Ohio. Not only do we help kids get access to books, but we also provide opportunities for them to meet authors and be inspired by the magic of storytelling.
