We’re thrilled to announce that the Wayne County Community Foundation has generously awarded $6,000 to the Buckeye Book Fair for our transformative Buckeye Book Camp project! This significant grant will allow us to empower young minds through a week-long literary adventure designed specifically for 3rd through 8th grade students.

The Buckeye Book Camp is not your average summer program; it’s a unique blend of intense learning and creative exploration, likened to a “Boot Camp” for budding book enthusiasts. At the camp, students will dive into the world of literature, honing their literacy skills, and nurturing a deeper appreciation for books.

In today’s ever-changing educational landscape, fostering a love for reading and providing avenues for creative expression are more crucial than ever. The Buckeye Book Camp aims to address these needs by empowering young readers to engage meaningfully with literature, expand their imaginations, and develop a lifelong passion for books.

Led by esteemed published authors, illustrators, agents, and editors, including Jerzy Drozd and Lillian Mazeika, the Buckeye Book Camp promises an enriching experience for participants. From exploring the creative process to discovering the secrets of storytelling, students will embark on a journey of self-discovery and literary exploration.

The camp will take place from July 22 to July 28, 2024, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, right here in Wooster, Ohio. Registration opens on May 15, 2024, with a tuition fee of $180. Additionally, before and after-care services are available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, ensuring convenience for parents and guardians.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Wayne County Community Foundation for their generous support, which enables us to bring this innovative program to life. Together, we’re nurturing the next generation of readers, writers, and thinkers. Join us in making a difference in young lives through the power of literature!
