“The Young Authors Conference is a fantastic opportunity for kids to explore an avenue of creativity in writing and illustrating through meeting the very people who do it every day. Furthermore, the Buckeye Book Fair introduces the community to its authors and illustrators currently working in publishing.”

“I was honored to be a presenter at the 2024 Young Authors’ Conference in conjunction with the Book Fair, and was blown away by the participation, connection, and enthusiasm of the student audience members. Basically, we all had a blast (what more can you want from young readers?) It was such a rewarding experience.”

“One of the most meaningful events for me personally is the Young Authors’ Conference held the day before the Book Fair. Students from around the area are brought in by bus to meet Ohio authors. In my three years participating in this event I’ve met hundreds of enthusiastic young people, some of whom hope to pursue a creative career, some who simply enjoy reading and want to learn more about how stories work. All of them leave with the sense that their stories matter, and that they have the tools to share them. This event is one of the highlights of my year and I will participate as long as they will have me.”

“We must do all that we can to improve both reading and writing skills among young people. The annual Buckeye Book Fair and its associated programs throughout the year provide wonderful ways to help accomplish those goals here in Ohio.”
