📚 The April Buckeye Bookmark

Welcome to a new edition of Buckeye Bookmark, and thank you for being part of our community of readers, writers, illustrators, and book lovers.

This issue celebrates the power of stories to inspire, challenge, and connect us. We’re pleased to feature highlights from the 2025 Buckeye Book Fair’s Middle Grade Matters Panel, a lively and thoughtful conversation on storytelling for young readers featuring Dustin Brady, Sam Subity, Marcy Campbell, Erik Jon Slangerup, Jerzy Drozd, and Anne Drozd. Their discussion offers insight, humor, and a wonderful reminder of why middle grade literature matters.

You’ll also meet author Jonathan Heaslet in a feature spotlight exploring his writing journey and his novel East of Apple Glen, a story that examines difficult truths while pointing toward hope and healing.

Looking ahead, we’re sharing important information for authors, illustrators, and publishers about submitting new releases to the Selection Committee as planning begins for the 2026 Buckeye Book Fair. We’re also including details on how to register for the 2026 Buckeye Book Camp, an exciting opportunity to learn, connect, and grow in the company of fellow creatives.

As always, we’re grateful for our readers. Your support sustains the Buckeye Book Fair’s mission to celebrate authors, encourage literacy, and foster a vibrant literary community.

Thank you for reading Buckeye Bookmark. We’re glad you’re here, and we hope you enjoy this issue.
