📚 The June Buckeye Bookmark

Summer is in full swing, and here at the Buckeye Book Fair, we’re already looking ahead to an exciting November filled with books, authors, illustrators, and readers coming together to celebrate the joy of storytelling.

In this issue, you’ll meet James B. Wells, author of Because: A CIA Coverup and a Son’s Odyssey to Find the Father He Never Knew. His remarkable journey spans decades of research, family discovery, and a relentless pursuit of truth. We’re delighted to welcome him to the 39th Annual Buckeye Book Fair on Saturday, November 7.

You’ll also find a link to our recent conversation, Writing Mysteries and Suspense Books at the Buckeye Book Fair, featuring Amanda Flower, Julie Hatcher, and Patricia Sargeant. Their discussion offers fascinating insights into the craft of mystery writing and the secrets behind stories that keep readers turning pages long after bedtime.

This issue also serves as a final call for Buckeye Book Fair author and illustrator submissions. If you know an author who would enjoy connecting with enthusiastic readers in Wooster this fall, please encourage them to submit their book before the deadline. We are always looking for talented writers and artists who share our passion for literacy and storytelling.

Have you already devoured your summer reading stack? Then it’s time for a fresh supply of books! Be sure to enter our Summer Book Escape Raffle fundraiser. One lucky winner will receive eight weeks of curated reading selections, creating a season packed with literary adventures. It’s a wonderful way to support the Buckeye Book Fair while giving yourself the chance to win a book lover’s dream prize.

Finally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our Selection Committee. As I write this, they are carefully reading through a towering stack of submissions, thoughtfully evaluating each book and helping shape this year’s Buckeye Book Fair. Their dedication, time, and expertise make it possible for us to present an outstanding lineup of authors and illustrators each year.

Thank you for being part of our reading community. Whether you’re discovering a new favorite author, supporting literacy programs, volunteering, or simply sharing your love of books with others, you help make the Buckeye Book Fair a special place where stories and people connect.
