Preparing for Buckeye Book Camp

Dear Campers and Caregivers,

Welcome to the 2025 Buckeye Book Camp!  Here are a few thoughts about what to expect:

  • The camp is being held at First Presbyterian Church 621 College Ave, Wooster, OH 44691 (July 28 – August 1, 2025).
  • We will be in the Youth area.  You can use the long exterior stairwell or the inner staircase to get to our Camp area in the lower level.
  • We will be communicating via email during the week of camp.
  • Please bring a water bottle every day.
  • Wear sneakers and clothes that you can move in comfortably and safely.  Students may spend time sitting on the floor.
  • Please bring a packed lunch.  No one will be permitted to leave to buy food.  We may have campers with allergies to tree nuts – if possible, please avoid packing nuts in your lunch.
  • Cell phones are not to be used during classes or lunch.  This includes texting & checking messages.
  • Preparing a student portfolio and presentation is work. How much fun you get out of it depends on how much work you put into it. There is fun in this work.
  • We expect everyone to try everything. “I don’t want to” is not going to help the camp or camper.
  • We will provide modest supplies for the Book Camp. We have learned some students prefer to have their own set of Sakura Micro-line Pens. They are available online and campers should label their supplies.
  • We want the atmosphere to be casual and friendly, but we require that everyone is treated with respect. Say “Please” “Thank you” and listen when someone is talking.
  • There are no “stars” at BuckeyeBook Camp.  Some campers may have more to do than others. The Buckeye Book Camp Presentation is on Friday afternoon at 3:00pm will be a full ensemble production where everyone is important. Caregivers are welcome to attend.
  • There will be times during the camp, Writing Lab & Illustrating Lab when students are not directly engaged.  It is best to spend this time working on your characters and illustrations. We also suggest students bring a book and enjoy the games in the Youth Center.
  • Please do not bring anything of value (monetary or sentimental) to Camp.  This includes: jewelry, video games, cell phones, toys, etc.  We don’t expect any problems, but would hate to have anything happen to your valued belongings.
  • Please make sure to bring the signed Permission Slip & Emergency Contact form with you. We will send it as an attachment right before the camp.

We’re glad that you’re part of our 2025 Buckeye Book Camp!

~Kimberly, Kori, Lillian, Sami, and Jerzy
