Anastasia Hastings

It is no mystery why readers enjoyed Anastasia Hastings’ first Dear Miss Hermione: Of Manners and Murder. In her latest Dear Miss Hermione novel, Of Hoaxes and Homicide, mystery lovers learn more about Violet Manville, Sephora (Violet’s half-sister), and the puzzling, ever lurking American, Eli Marsh. Be prepared for surprising and strange things as Miss Hermione tries to help a mother reclaim a daughter caught in a web of a cult.

Ever sensible Violet Manville continues to pen the most popular Agony Aunt column in London and is bored giving everyday advice. She needs a mystery! Her ladylike half-sister, Sephora is just plain bored. “Heartbroken Mother” answers their prayers and soon the sisters join forces, along with trusty housekeeper Bunty, to save a girl from the clutches of a cult.

Hastings refers to herself as a “plotter” and spends a lot of time thinking and planning a book before she begins writing. Often, she gets innovative ideas for the current book or new books from the research. “All my books feature strong women asserting themselves, taking chances, learning more about themselves, and finding justice,” Hastings said.

Anastasia Hastings is a penname for Connie Laux who has, over a thirty-year career, published sixty-five novels in several different genres and under several names. She began her career writing historical romance, and has also written contemporary romance, YA, and a children’s book. A full-time writer, she writes every day – all day.

“My only trick is when I sit down to write, I set a clock for 45-minutes and in that time all I do is write. At the end, I get 15 minutes to do whatever I want,” Hasting said.

She is a staple at the Buckeye Book Fair and enjoys the annual trek to Wooster. “It is wonderful to come back every year and connect with readers who I have been seeing for what seems like forever. So many friendly faces! They make lasting impressions and their enthusiasm for reading is contagious,” Laux said.

No matter what name you know her by: Anatasia Hastings; Casey Daniels; Kylie Logan; Mimi Granger – Connie Laux does not disappoint. Remember to stop by her table at the Buckeye Book Fair. She has plenty to talk about and you never know which pen name she is using!
