About Us: The Buckeye Book Fair is a celebrated literary institution that promotes literacy, supports authors and illustrators, and celebrates Ohio’s rich literary heritage. We host an annual book fair, various literary programs throughout the year, and engage with our community to foster a love of reading and writing.

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Summer Intern to join our team. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in event planning, community outreach, and literary promotion. The intern will work closely with staff to support the Buckeye Book Fair’s initiatives and programs, helping to create engaging experiences for our attendees and participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of the annual Buckeye Book Fair and other literary events.
  • Support outreach efforts to local schools, libraries, and community organizations to promote literacy programs and events.
  • Help with the coordination of author and illustrator engagements, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Assist in managing social media and marketing campaigns to promote upcoming events and programs.
  • Contribute to administrative tasks, such as data entry, organizing materials, and responding to inquiries.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for new initiatives and program development.
  • Attend team meetings and provide input on strategies for enhancing community engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in English, Literature, Communications, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for literature and a desire to promote reading and literacy.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic marketing principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
