Welcome to this month’s Buckeye Bookmark, where stories, authors, and our shared love of reading come together.
We’re especially excited to spotlight Robin Yocum and Danae Wolfe, two remarkable voices whose work reminds us why books matter. Robin said it best: “The Buckeye Book Fair is the best of the best, and I would never pass up an opportunity to participate. It’s like going to a class reunion where all your former classmates are warm, friendly book lovers. What could be better?” That sense of connection and joy is at the heart of everything we do.
Danae Wolfe brings a fresh and inspiring perspective through her work as a macro photographer and conservation educator. As the creator of Chasing Bugs, she helps readers and audiences discover the beauty, diversity, and importance of insects and spiders. Her passion grew from a love of nature and environmental studies, paired with the moment she picked up her first macro lens. That combination shaped a mission that continues today through photography, writing, and public speaking. Her new book, Grass Isn’t Greener, offers practical, approachable steps for creating more sustainable home landscapes. With ideas ranging from planting native species to reducing light pollution, Danae shows how small changes can make a meaningful difference while deepening our connection to the natural world.
Inside this issue, you will also find details on how to submit your book to the Selection Committee for the 39th annual Buckeye Book Fair. Each submission helps shape a celebration that reflects the richness and variety of storytelling, and we are grateful to the authors and publishers who share their work with us.
As you look ahead, please remember to register for Buckeye Book Camp. It is a wonderful opportunity for young writers and illustrators to grow their creativity and confidence. Also be sure to save the date for the Buckeye Book Fair on Saturday, November 7th. It is a day that brings readers and creators together in a meaningful and lasting way.
Thank you for being part of this community. Your support keeps stories thriving and helps inspire a lifelong love of reading. 📚
