We are well on our way in the countdown to the Buckeye Book Fair, the excitement is palpable. On Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, the doors will open to one of Ohio’s most cherished literary traditions, bringing together readers, authors, and illustrators for a day dedicated to the joy of books. To celebrate, we’re inviting everyone to join us daily on social media, where each day we’ll highlight a featured author or illustrator who will be part of this year’s event.
The Buckeye Book Fair isn’t just another book fair—it’s an experience. What makes it so special? For one, publishers often treat our attendees to early releases, giving you the chance to get your hands on books before they hit the shelves. Educators, we have something special for you too! School teachers and librarians enjoy a 20% discount on books with their ID cards, making it easier to enrich your classrooms and libraries.
But that’s not all. This year, we’re thrilled to introduce the Buckeye Book Fort Contest. Show off your creativity by building a blanket fort, snapping a photo, and sharing it on social media. Don’t forget to tag us (@BuckeyeBookFair, #BuckeyeBookFair #BuckeyeBookFort) for a chance to win a bag of books at the fair. It’s a fun way to lead up to the big day, bringing a bit of the Buckeye spirit into your home.
If you haven’t secured your Buckeye Book Fair t-shirt yet, now’s the time! Not only is it a stylish way to show your support, but wearing it at the event is your ticket to the exclusive “fist bump zone.” It’s our way of recognizing our most enthusiastic supporters—those who wear their love for books on their sleeves, quite literally!
The Buckeye Book Fair will feature an incredible lineup of authors and illustrators. Olivia Matthews, the cozy mystery pseudonym of Patricia Sargeant, will charm readers with her engaging tales, while Mindy McGinnis, an Edgar Award-winning novelist, promises grit and truth in her diverse body of work.
John L. Hopkins, a local writer and public relations professional, will share the poignant story of the Gettysburg Reunion of 1913, while Hal Sundt, a writer from Minnesota, will take us inside the military reform that birthed the A-10 Warthog. History lovers won’t want to miss Roger Pickenpaugh’s latest exploration of the political battle between JFK and Humphrey.

For those who enjoy a mix of humor and history, David Rickert’s Pizza, Pickles, and Apple Pie is a must-read, exploring the science and pop culture behind popular foods. And let’s not forget Tom Batiuk, the beloved creator of Funky Winkerbean, whose new book continues the saga of one of Ohio’s most iconic comic strips.
With the countdown now in full swing, we invite you to be part of the excitement leading up to November 2nd. Visit our social media channels daily to discover more about the talented authors and illustrators who make the Buckeye Book Fair such a unique and unforgettable event. And remember, whether you’re entering the blanket fort contest, securing your t-shirt for the fist bump zone, or simply planning your day at the fair, there’s something for everyone as we celebrate only 75 days until the Buckeye Book Fair!
