The Buckeye Book Fair November 2024 Book Bits: Newsletter

📚 Dear Book Bits Readers,

Buckeye Book Fair Shines with Over 1200 Attendees and 3800 Books Finding Forever Homes

We’re thrilled to report that this year’s Buckeye Book Fair was a resounding success! 🎉 With over 1200 book lovers 📖 filling the Greystone Event Center on November 2nd, the enthusiasm for Ohio’s vibrant literary community was truly inspiring. Attendees browsed, connected, and celebrated local authors, and we are proud to share that over 3800 books 📚 found their new homes. 🏠

This year’s top-selling titles highlighted the diversity and richness of storytelling that the Buckeye Book Fair is known for. 🏆 A Hunger to Kill by Kim Mager captivated readers with its gripping real-life account of one of Ohio’s most notorious serial killers 🕵️‍♀️, as Detective Mager shared the journey of bringing justice ⚖️ to the victims. Amanda Flower’s To Slip the Bonds of Earth introduced fans to Katharine Wright—the spirited and intellectual sister of the Wright brothers—solving mysteries 🔍 of her own in early 1900s Dayton. And for history enthusiasts 🏛️, General David Wooster: Hero of the American Revolution, 1710-1777 offered a compelling look into the life of a lesser-known but essential Revolutionary War hero. 🇺🇸

The Buckeye Book Fair team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you ❤️ to all attendees, authors, and volunteers 🙌 for making this year’s event such a memorable one. As we plan for next year, we’re eager to hear from you! Please take a moment to complete our Buckeye Book Fair survey 📝 to let us know what you loved 💖 and how we can make future fairs even better.

Thank you for celebrating Ohio’s literary legacy 📖 with us, and we look forward to seeing you next year! 🎉

  1. Well, for the first time in more than a decade, I passed on the Buckeye Book Fair this year because I 100% disliked the brochure this year. In past years I have perused the entire book descriptions and formulated my “wish list” prior to the actual sale. This year, I couldn’t get past the tiny print and useless descriptions. There was so little description provided about the books and way too. much info provided on the authors. I’m going to buy a book based on its content, illustration, and suitability to the recipient I have in mind, NOT whether a given author has a certain pet, or has traveled here or there, etc.. I quit reading the brochure about halfway through and crossed it off my list of the MANY buying events to attend during a busy holiday season.

I hope next year’s brochure is more user-friendly and less author-centered. Thank you.

    1. Hi Jan,

Thank you so much for your patience. Your comment just came through, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it sooner. I truly appreciate you letting me know about the print size in the catalog. We work hard to keep production costs within our charity’s means, which does limit the size, but we want to make sure the information is always accessible. That’s why we’ll continue to provide everything online where it can be easily enlarged.

I hope this will be helpful, and most of all, I hope you’ll join us again this year to meet and talk with the authors—it’s always such a special part of the Fair! ~Kimberly
