📚 The May Buckeye Bookmark

Welcome to the latest edition of The Buckeye Bookmark, the official newsletter of the Buckeye Book Fair.

This month, we’re taking readers behind the scenes with a closer look at “What Happens Between Book Fairs?” While the Buckeye Book Fair may shine brightest on one special Saturday each November, the work of promoting literacy, supporting Ohio authors, planning programs, and building community continues year-round. From reading submissions and corresponding with publishers to organizing Book Camp and meeting with educators, there is always another chapter being written behind the scenes.

We’re also excited to spotlight a conversation with acclaimed Ohio author Dan Chaon, whose thoughtful insights remind us why stories matter and why connecting readers directly with authors remains such an important part of our mission.

As summer approaches, we also want to remind everyone that time is running out for authors and illustrators to submit their new releases for consideration at the 2026 Buckeye Book Fair and to also for parents to register students for the 2026 Buckeye Book Camp. We encourage authors, illustrators, educators, young writers, and readers to stay connected!

Thank you for supporting the Buckeye Book Fair and for believing in the power of reading to bring people together. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and follow along for updates, featured guests, literacy programs, and stories from Ohio’s vibrant literary community.
