Introducing Rayane Abounnaaim

Rayane took the lead on the Buckeye Book Fair’s product management needs. His responsibilities encompassed a range of tasks related to logistics, inventory management, and book tracking. He has also worked closely with the other interns on technology and marketing goals.

Rayane’s career goal is to become a product manager at a tech company, and he believes that this internship has given him invaluable experience. He highlighted his role writing a script for volunteer training videos as key to honing his communication skills and creating an efficient project flow.

Enhancing Accessibility and Literacy:

This year, we had the privilege of receiving a special Capacity Grant from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC), a grant specifically directed towards enhancing our organization’s ability to serve people with visible and invisible disabilities. Unlike unrestricted funds, OAC grants are aimed at achieving specific goals within an organization’s development, such as improving accessibility or partnering to help area students attend the Young Authors Conference. With this targeted support, we’ve taken significant steps to broaden our reach and make our events more inclusive.

Saugat Shakya: Tech Lead

Saugat has taken the lead on technical projects to explore how implementing technological solutions can streamline the Buckeye Book Fair’s operations. His main focus is on developing systems to automate data collection and entry processes, which helps the Buckeye Book Fair team dedicate more time to building relationships and curating an exceptional event, rather than being occupied with manual data management.

Step Into History:

Scott H. Longert, acclaimed for his deep dives into the history of the Cleveland Guardians, offers readers an intimate look at Ray Chapman in his newest book. Longert’s fascination with Chapman began with his visits to Lakeview Cemetery, where the baseball icon rests. There, he observed bats, balls, and gloves left by fans, a poignant tribute to Chapman’s enduring impact on the sport. This biography is not just for baseball fans; it’s a story of determination and resilience that resonates with anyone who appreciates the human spirit’s tenacity.

Celebrating a Year of Literary Excellence:

The Buckeye Book Fair (BBF) is proud to present its 2023 Annual Report, showcasing another year of celebrating Ohio’s literary talent and fostering a love for reading across the state. Through strategic initiatives, robust community partnerships, and feedback-driven improvements, we met our six programming goals, leaving a lasting impact on our community.

Celebrating the Generosity of the Jim and Cindy Webster Charitable Fund

At the heart of the Buckeye Book Fair’s mission to promote literacy and foster a love of reading in young minds, we are profoundly grateful for the support of the Jim and Cindy Webster Charitable Fund. This generous fund, a component of the Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF), plays a pivotal role in helping us bring the joy of books to children across Ohio.
